I work in the IT trenches during the day–and write any time I get a chance to. I’ve always been a writer, but had practically stopped altogether until after I lost my son, Colin. He was almost 4 months old when he died. He fought a valiant battle to come home after open heart surgery to correct several Congenital Heart Defects. I have two older sons, Ethan and Austin. I have two dogs, Molly and Spencer. I also have a husband, Michael. I live in suburban Detroit and have been a lifelong Michigander. I’m smitten with the Mitten.
My writing here will be the writing I can’t or don’t do anywhere else.
I was previously a monthly contributor at Still Standing Magazine, an online magazine dedicated to embracing life and love after loss and infertility. I primarily write about Self-Care. I recently told someone that I write about self-care because I did it all wrong after losing Colin, and I want people to learn from my mistakes.
I’m grateful for these opportunities to showcase my writing and my diverse interests, and to have these outlets on which to share about grief and CHDs and being a woman.
I am also available for freelance writing and editing assignments. I was an editor at a reference publisher for nearly 7 years and have continued to hone my editorial skills in the context of my jobs in automotive publishing and in the IT world via project and product documentation from technical writing to business cases to detailed requirements. I also have experience as a teacher and curriculum developer for both students and professionals. I teach in person and online. I can help develop courses for your business training needs, or provide tutoring to your student in reading or writing across the curriculum.
I look forward to sharing my words with you.
