For the Liminal Space

As you find yourself in between
this and that
then and now
past and future
here and there,
Know this:

There is a certain peculiar joy
in the in-between
if you can release your death-grip on certainty.

May you sense the beauty of time
that is both after the end and before the beginning.
May you feel the exquisite tension
of the already and the not yet.
May you experience the sensation
of frictionless presence, afloat on a sea of possibility.

Hold this time loosely,
like anything you love,
because you will yearn for the return of its mystery.
For soon it will have passed,
until the beginning that is ahead ends,
and the next in-between is begun.

Amen.
